Boy it didn't take long for this topic to come up! I have made the most money I have made in my 12 years in the car business in the last 3 years.

I do not have ANY SALARY! My income has been strictly commision based for the last 3 yrs, no minimum guarantees Never in the history of the store did they have a year like that. Then early this yr they decided that they were going to sell more cars and I should make less as a percentage of the profits! Long story short, I am with a different dealer now, hoping to make the same as I did last yr, but this time I have a written contract for 2 years regarding my pay plan!

Dealers have a strange way of looking at things As far as how pay plans are based if you ask 10 different dealers, you will get 10 different pay plans! Also other factors to consider: My CSI also blows away the group average. But, because the volume of business is smaller, my income is a lot less than it could be.

I currently work 50 - 52 hrs a week, and drive an additional 7 - 8 hours a week back and forth to work. That's kind of where I'm at.

From my driveway to the dealership is only 4 miles. Coupled with the short hours for the car business anyways , I can't really complain. I've learned over the years, pay is only one factor in being happy with your job. Think about it, how many dealers would want you to be dishonest in your job? It's issues like this that you can't put a dollar amount on.

We average cars a month from my dealership. We have 5 finance managers, and each of us average hrs a week. We are responsible for all dealer trades, locating cars, plus various other out of dept. And the pay looks to be on the lower end of the spectrum, compaired to the other posts. The owners always have a negative response when we request a raise. YES, 3 days off each week. The 4 days they work, they never work 12 hours days! Each manager gets a full weekend off every month! THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO TURNOVER! The department supposedly averages high dollars per car, and very satisfied customers too! Talk about a dream job! I was hoping someone would start talking about this issue.

I take care of 2 dealerships. The combined sales are about 60 per month. We have 4 Sales Managers and about 10 salesmen. I average to per deal. I work 5 days 12 hours. This year I should earn 65k. Our percentage doesn't change for anything over , which is crazy. We should be componsited better. I would say that assumption is closer to 1 in Not as a national average..

Da Bear Replied on: One of my pet peeves has been working in a store and doing such a good job that your pay goes way beyond what the owner paid in the past. And even though you are making him more money they cut your pay scale.

Happen to anyone out there? I work for one of there competitors. Delivering cars a month by myself with a part timer for my day and evening off. Currently averaging K yr. At Lexus dealer you can run with less people as the majority of deals are cash and take less time and much less after the fact paperwork.

One of my dealers changed the pay plan after the principle saw what he was paying me after 6 months. Thats when I quit too. Best of the lot: I was one of 2 producers.

The other fella was the Director nd under contract. After 18 months, I went in and asked for ownership to address the compensation plan.
